The core objective of this restoration project was set to restore to the condition of 1980 on May 2001. 1980 is the memorable year for Kushiro wetland snce it was registed at first time in Japan as the wetland under the Ramsar Convention, and much degradation has in fact happened after thie time. Following picture, for example, shows one of the case that wetland has been converted to the farmland after 1980.
